Business Plans

July 2004

“Less than 1% of business plans submitted to business angels or venture capitalists will be successful in raising money.”

John Mullins, The New Business Road Test.

To help overcome these daunting odds, students at the world-renowned University of Bath School of Management recently had to make a pitch for venture capital financing to support their MBA business plans. The Claverton Entrepreneurship Competition, sponsored by ICON Corporate Finance, comes as a climax to the full-time Bath MBA with the winning team taking away £1000 prize money.

Feverfew Director Adrian Goodall, who is also visiting lecturer at the University of Greenwich Business School, was one of the several finance and entrepreneurship experts to judge the teams on the presentation of their business plans.

Dr Stephan Henneberg, Head of the Claverton Business Plan programme, said: “I was delighted that our panel of judges was able to give the students such realistic feedback. The experience they gained today will be very helpful to them if and when they actually do need to raise capital!”
