Gibson Music

October 2004

ICON advises London based, home automation leader Gibson on its £1.4 milion sale to UK based, Holloway White Allom

The acquisition provides Holloway White Allom (HWA) with Gibson’s expertise in home automation and extends HWA’s commitment to the broadening of their services in this niche market.

Mayfair-based specialist builders Holloway White Allom announce their acquisition of Gibson Music, who are well known for their pioneering design and installation of home automation systems. Gibson’s services include integrated multi-room audio, home cinema, lighting, automated control systems and communications.

For Holloway White Allom, well renowned throughout the UK for quality refurbishment and new construction, the acquisition of Gibson Music is a logical development of their prestigious interiors capability. By bringing on board a strong brand and a performer who already frequently works with the same clients, Holloway’s are broadening their services in this niche market.

Bob Cole, Holloway White Allom’s Managing Director, commented "The acquisition of Gibson Music is an excellent fit with our existing portfolio of services. Both Holloway White Allom and Gibson Music are now set to grow. Gibson Music will continue to be run as an independent business, with Angus Gibson and Mervyn Chaplin at the helm, while operating within the HWA Group."

"We are delighted to be part of such a prestigious company whose high standards and commitment to outstanding service mirror our own approach," says Angus Gibson. "Whilst we will continue to operate independently, being part of the Holloway White Allom Group will enable us to make additional investment in the growing of our range of services, capabilities and products. I am looking forward very much to an exciting future with HWA."

Brian Parker, Head of M&A at ICON’s London office added:

"We had an established relationship with Gibson Music and we are delighted to have advised on its sale to what appears an ideal acquirer. The deal marks a significant next step in HWA’s efforts to reinforce their position as leaders in delivering the highest quality product and it will also form the cornerstone of a new Prestige Interiors division. Holloway White Allom was an ideal acquirer, they have a similar exclusive client base and were attracted by the unique knowledge that our client had built up from its experience as one of the leaders in the home automation market. It is rare that you complete a transaction where the synergies and cross selling opportunities are so strong”.

Holloway White Allom is paying a total consideration for the acquisition of Gibson Music of £1.4 million.
