James joined ICON in 2000 and specialises in raising funds for early stage and high growth technology companies, with particular focus on semi-conductors, electronics, environmental technologies and software opportunities in the range of £1m-£30m.
At ICON, James has advised a number of high-profile technology businesses including Trafficmaster plc and Dan Computers plc as well as having advised some of the most exciting UK growth prospects in Clearspeed Technology plc (LSE:CSD), Deepstream Technologies (Elektra European Start-up of the Year 2006, Red Herring Top 100, Tornado Insider Top 100, World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer 2007), Index Oil & Gas Inc (OTC: BB:IXOG), Inetec, MMIC Solutions, Oligon (sold to Wolfson Microelectronics plc), Insurance 4 Car Hire (sold to Towergate Partnership), Splashpower (sold to Alticor Inc.), Advanced Transport Systems (investment by BAA plc).
He has over 10 years business advisory experience during which time he has covered transactions ranging from Private Placings, Venture and Development Capital investments through to pre-IPO funding, MBOs and MBIs as well as corporate disposals.
James was also Finance Director for an Enviromental Technology company engaged in the clean up of brownfield sites through the deployment of a unique suite of remediation technologies.
Prior to joining ICON, James worked for BT as a Senior Financial Analyst and formerly as a manager at Deloitte and Touche Corporate Finance. James is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a graduate from Bristol University.
